The project for the new municipal headquarters of the Puerto Real Town Hall must be understood within the urban space of the Plaza del Mar, as proposed and developed in the Special Plan for the Historic Centre of the city. It is a project that aims to reference this façade of the city to the Bay, where one of its main objectives is to formalise and delimit this urban space that is proposed in the Special Plan, enhancing and qualifying the activity required by this important space in the Plaza del Mar.
In its conception, the building is intended to become an architectural “landmark” of the City and a visual “reference” from the Bay, occupying the strategic place that corresponds to a building of these characteristics. The treatment of its four symmetrical sides as “main façades” referring to the City and its Bay; the formal solidity of its arcades contrasted with the subtle delicacy of its roof; and the simplicity of its economical construction elements based on white waterproof concrete block as exterior and interior walls, characterise a project that attempts to symbolise in the city the new headquarters of the municipal corporation of Puerto Real.
