The “II INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE WORKSHOP” was held at the School of Architecture of the University of Malaga in July 2010.

The course proposed the analysis of an urban environment and its urban, architectural and landscape proposal. The understanding of the project in all its scales makes it a joint reflection of theory and practice, which must go hand in hand in order to acquire its true value as a project.

Landscape, as a transversal dimension of the project, is emerging as a fundamental element for understanding the city and its complexity. In this way, the proposal will transcend the mere functional resolution of the problems of the place, contributing to a more integrating response to the project in the city. Through the analysis of concrete cases, the problems and solutions offered by the instruments of professional practice in their different scales are analysed.

This is a workshop where theory and practice were carried out simultaneously through a specific PROJECT of an urban piece of the city of Malaga. In this way, we tried to construct the discipline of architecture and urbanism as two inseparable sides of the same coin, where the PROJECT is the basis on which we try to reflect on the art of building the city and its Landscape at all urban and territorial scales.

The Landscape Workshop was organised by the School of Architecture of MÁLAGA, in collaboration with the Fundación General de la Universidad de Málaga (FGUMA) and the Schools of Architecture of ROME (La Sapienza), PARIS (La Villette), SIRACUSA, RABAT, CAIRO and PAMPLONA.
