In order to develop an R+D+i program to define the technical, mechanical and design conditions for a series of prefabricated modular elements, mainly based on the use of special concretes, HeidelbergCement Hispania and Estudio Seguí have signed a joint collaboration agreement to study, from our respective experiences and capabilities, the innovations that these elements may require for their possible application to the new demands of architectural production. Three main lines of work are raised in this technical collaboration agreement are:

  1. Large modular elements, with their possible geometries and textures for application on building facades.
  2. Urbanization elements for public spaces, mainly large-format pavement pieces adapted to the new urban requirements of the city, and integrated designs of public furniture.
  3. Prefabrication of typological modules with the capacity to form “clusters” or residential groupings that enable attractive architectural compositions.

In any of these three lines of work we will study the alternative of additive manufacturing of the elements (3D printing) and we will prioritize, in all of them, the use of binders and constructive designs that imply the lowest carbon footprint of the manufactured elements.
