The “International Landscape Workshop” held its ninth edition in the city of Zaragoza in collaboration with the Official College of Architects of Aragon and the School of Architecture and Technology of the San Jorge University.

After its previous editions in different Spanish cities (Malaga, Jaen, Toledo, Granada…), with the themes always focused on the analysis of the city from the capacity of the project in its different references and demands (tourism, landscape, culture, river, monument…), this new edition in Zaragoza dealt with “THE CITY AND WATER“, from different multidisciplinary approaches, to analyse and debate on the natural resources of water, which has nowadays become the main theme of this new edition. ), this new call in Zaragoza was about “THE CITY AND WATER”, from different multidisciplinary approaches, to analyse and debate on the natural resources of water, which has currently become an imperative need and also a new professional culture in the way of dealing with them professionally in our cities.

As have been the objectives and contents of previous workshops, this ninth edition of the workshop will analyse experiences that seek to recover the dialogue between society and the physical environment available, developing and understanding any action that can be undertaken from the possibilities offered by such a unique natural environment.

This conjunction of aesthetic and practical values, which we could define as the Art of Building Cities, has become the focus of a new professional debate that constructs the discipline of architecture and urban planning as two inseparable sides of the same coin, but which is undoubtedly increasingly present in the activities of other disciplines, for example, cinema, painting, video games, literature, etc.ç

The “IX International Landscape Workshop” thus seeks to incorporate into this professional debate and disciplinary research significant materials in the current experience of intervening in our cities, trying to discover in this practice the elements of the current culture of our cities and territories.
