TANGER CITY CENTER

TANGER CITY CENTER

Location: Tánger, Morocco

Author: José Seguí Pérez. Architect
ESTUDIO SEGUÍ in colaboration with Guillermo Fernández Durán

Date: 2006

Commission: Fadesa and Ancosa by Internacional competition summoned by Marocco Government.

The main objective of the proposal was to create a new “centrality” in the city of Tangier in order to reference and organize its new areas of commercial and tourist extension. Its location, adjacent to the new Railway Station and the Paseo Marítimo of the City, give the proposal a high urban value as a new urban center of the City of Tangier.

An important central promenade, which as a garden space or hall connects the sea front with the new Railway Station, becomes the structuring element of the proposal. The hotel and tertiary uses are aligned to this central promenade opening its facades and visual perspectives to the front of the sea, thus forming an urban set of great environmental and landscape quality. Collaborated in the writing of the proposal the Technical Department of Fadesa directed by the Architect Guillermo Fernández.
