MUSEUM OF CAPITULATIONS

Location: Santa Fe, Granada

Author: José Seguí Pérez. Architect
ESTUDIO SEGUÍ

Date: 1992

Commission: Santa Fe Council Hall

Built Area: 1.704 m2

The building consists of three exhibition halls and a double-height library with a top shelf gallery, which have served to locate the Instituto de América and the bibliographic collections of Damián Bayón. It is worth noting the study of the natural lighting of the rooms of the Museum through well-oriented spaces for the exhibitions and its visual relation with the adjacent Church of the Incarnation (eighteenth century) of the Architect Ventura Rodríguez to which it orientates its upper windows. The wall of access to the Museum “looks” to the Plaza of Spain as a claim to indicate the location of the Museum in place of the signing of the Capitulations, referencing it in this way to the Plaza of Spain itself.
